Life Cycle Power and CenterPoint Energy Deploy Mobile Turbines to Boost Grid Reliability and Cut Costs for Houston Customers

Life Cycle Power (“LCP”) and CenterPoint Energy are taking bold action to help Texas stay cool and powered this summer. Together, they’re deploying 15 large temporary mobile natural gas generators to the San Antonio area to support the state’s electric grid when it’s needed most. Installation of the first five units is already underway, with the remaining turbines rolling out in the coming weeks. The move is designed to reduce the risk of energy shortfalls during periods of high demand and it’s not just about keeping the lights on.

The agreement with ERCOT allows the generators to run through March 2027, ensuring extended support for the grid beyond just one season of peak electricity demand.

It’s a win-win: added reliability, long-term savings, and a meaningful financial contribution to Texas’s energy infrastructure.

A Smarter, Faster Approach to Power

Life Cycle and CenterPoint are combining resourceful planning with speed and mobility to bring nearly half a gigawatt of dependable energy online in record time. It’s a real-time solution that meets a real-time challenge.

Life Cycle Power owns in excess of 1 GW of mobile natural gas turbines. Life Cycle Power’s mobile natural gas turbine systems are designed to be deployed fast and activated even faster. In an energy landscape where every minute counts, LCP’s ability to deliver turnkey, high-capacity power on short notice is a game changer.

Meeting Demand, Avoiding Disruption

Texas summers are notorious for straining the electric grid. When heatwaves hit and demand spikes, traditional infrastructure often can’t keep up. That’s where these mobile units shine. They act as a flexible, high-powered backup—ready to reinforce the grid before outages ever happen.

This kind of forward-thinking planning helps avoid the kind of blackouts Texans have experienced in the past, ensuring families, businesses, and critical services stay powered through peak conditions.

A Model for Modern Energy Solutions

This project highlights what’s possible when agility meets execution. It’s not just a temporary fix, it’s a smart, scalable strategy for enhancing reliability, improving resilience, and delivering value to customers.

In a state where energy demand is only growing, Life Cycle Power and CenterPoint are demonstrating how to stay ahead of the curve with real results, real savings, and a real commitment to keeping Texas powered.
