Location: Multiple locations within the U.S., focused on TX,NM.

 

Work Schedule:

  • Rotational: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
  • Thursday-Wednesday shift (additional travel before and after)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Turbine Technician for Life Cycle Power is responsible for the operation and maintenance of turbines used in power generation or mechanical drive systems. This role requires monitoring turbine operations, conducting routine checks, and responding to any abnormalities in turbine performance and supporting equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word “May.”)

  • Responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operations of gas turbine packages and related equipment.
  • Regularly monitors control panels, gauges, and other instruments to ensure optimal turbine performance and operational parameters.
  • Communicates and coordinates with supervisors and service support group for fault-finding support and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluates the operational readiness of equipment after shut-down events and assists with the evaluation of readiness of gas turbines and related equipment.
  • Responsible for Power Distribution to all equipment including but not limited to cable routing, designation, cable terminations, final inspection of entire system and approval prior to energizing any Medium Voltage Circuits
  • Ensures safe working conditions and operations according to company standards and policies, conducting work in accordance with safety rules, standard operating procedures, and workplace policies.
  • Maintains daily verification of operational log completion and maintains accurate records of operations and maintenance activities.
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts on gas turbines and human-machine interfaces.
  • Understands and applies available software for operational efficiency.
  • Aids in the development and implementation of power generation efficiencies.
  • Assists with the installation and commissioning of gas turbine packages and related equipment.
  • Performs external visual checks of equipment, including walk-around inspections.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support successful operations and business continuity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must successfully pass preemployment drug screening.
  • Possesses a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Electrical and or Mechanical Generation Theory required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 year of previous gas turbine controls/instrumentation/ electrical experience (GE LM/TM2500, Solar SMT60/130, FT8)

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend intermediate English.
  • Ability to read electrical/controls drawings.
  • 2 years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches
  • Ability to operate testing equipment (Megger, Multimeter/Process Meter, Amp probe, High Pot, Test Unit, etc.)
  • Ability to attend, participate, and successfully complete the scheduled New Hire Safety training, including but not limited to H2S, Powered Industrial, and basic First Aid and CPR training.
  • Attends and successfully completes annual safety recertification training.
  • Ability to work within a team concept to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical systems issues.
  • Ability to take instruction well and interact with other employees in a positive manner within the framework of assigned work groups.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • Company mandated systems. For new hires, ability to quickly learn company platforms.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate in a technical manner with clients.
  • Advanced knowledge of equipment controls and logic.

Daily required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. When required, employees will rideshare with multiple employees. Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather, including typical and atypical outdoor elements and extreme cold and hot weather temperatures. Given these conditions, employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) (fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection and safety gloves) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. Turbine Operators are regularly required to lift heavy objects; therefore, Turbine Operator must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and 50-100 lbs. with a team lift.

Work hours may include early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on job demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Operating and monitoring turbine packages.
  • Installation and commissioning of turbine systems. This includes assembling turbine components, connecting electrical and mechanical systems, and verifying proper functionality.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal turbine performance. This includes inspecting and lubricating turbine components, replacing worn-out parts, and conducting performance tests. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, and carry out necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Responsible for conducting risk assessments, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and following safety procedures during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment inspections, repairs, and parts inventory. Complete service reports, documenting any issues encountered and the actions taken to resolve them. This information is crucial for tracking equipment performance and planning future maintenance.
  • Provide technical support, answer inquiries, and address any concerns related to turbine systems. May also offer recommendations for optimizing turbine performance or upgrading equipment.
  • Required to travel extensively to different job sites and must be adaptable and willing to work in various environments, including remote locations and challenging weather conditions.

Position SummaryMedium Voltage Electrician supporting Microgrid, Data Center, and Fracking operations, ensuring that all electrical components and procedures comply with Life Cycle Power (LCP) standards and national codes, maintaining safety and professionalism in execution.

 

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word “May.”)
  • Performs pre-job equipment and site inspections to minimize equipment downtime during the job.
  • On the jobsite, when called upon, troubleshoots and performs necessary repairs to malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assists personnel with troubleshooting all medium voltage equipment, including variable frequency drives, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Ensures proper grounding grid is laid out and tested, including but not limited to all LCP equipment and third-party equipment on site.
  • Conducts work per safety rules, standard operating procedures, and workplace instructions, following all applicable OEM manufacturers, OSHA, MSHA, and NEC codes to perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and operation of all electrical equipment.Responsible for communicating job maintenance and repairs performed to Area Managers, Field Service Manager, and Supervisor.
  • May be assigned the duty of ordering electrical components, supplies, and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance on MV switchgear, MV circuit breakers, transformers, and all associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoots transformer and generator protection relays.
  •  Performs routine maintenance and testing of all MV cables before each frac operation.
  •  Manages power distribution to all equipment, including cable routing, designation, cable terminations, final system inspections, and approval before energizing any medium voltage circuits.
  •  Performs other related duties assigned to support successful operations and business continuity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successfully passes background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Possesses a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Daily overtime required and consistent, in-person attendance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

    • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical college training is preferred.
    • 24 months of previous medium voltage electrical experience, or an associate’s degree in electrical technology or a related field.
    •  Familiarity with NEC / Country codes
    •  Familiarity with OSHA / Code requirements
    •  Preferred Experience:
    •  Previous data center, micro-grid, and field service experience.
    • MV mining experience is also acceptable.
    •  Certified Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician preferred.
    •  Protection relay experience or certifications are a plus.
